Mumbai

See the two sides of India, from a crowded city like Mumbai to the peaceful countryside. Embrace the Indian culture, enjoy playing football and help OSCAR Foundation and their youth.

Trip Summary

Join the third half as we take you the vibrant, sprawling metropolis of Mumbai, India’s cultural and commercial powerhouse where one encounters both the modern and the old world in constant juxtaposition as Western culture meets traditional values.

It was the promise of business opportunities and religious freedom that originally drew people to Bombay, the former name of this city that is home to stunning architectural landmarks from the Victorian era and the days of the Raj. Today, Mumbai is India’s most cosmopolitan city and the nerve centre of both India’s fashion and film industries (it was the setting for the film Slumdog Millionaire) and is known as ‘the city that never sleeps’.

You’ll experience the unique energy of the city, visit local fishermen and farmers to see what everyday life is like as well as  learning first-hand about the very real social challenges in one of the world’s poorest countries and how football is helping underserved kids growing up in the overcrowded slums of cities like Mumbai.

We’ll also take you outside the city to a 22-acre residential campus located in rural Maharashtra, to see how a local non-profit provides one of the best outdoor adventure experiential learning spaces in India. You’ll welcome sunrise from the mountaintop before collaborating on a variety of activities and community projects designed to challenge, inspire and enhance leadership and cultural awareness.
