Trip Summary

Join the third half as we take you on a journey to experience the warmth and beauty of Brazil. You’ll sample local cuisines, learn samba and capoeira and uncover the secrets of o jogo bonito - the beautiful game. Brazil is widely-regarded as the ‘spiritual home’ of soccer - the birthplace of FIFA’s Player of the Century Pelé and the current global superstar Neymar. Perhaps no other nation on earth has the same claim to be the guardians of the spirit of the game and nowhere better encapsulates the idea that ‘soccer is a religion’. Yet in the overcrowded favelas of the country’s major cities, children are often forced to play in the street, at risk from traffic and crime, or in trash dumps and other dangerous places. You’ll join a local organization working to change this.

Recife, capital of Pernambuco state, is one of Brazil’s most exciting cities. In Recife you’ll find all the best of Brazilian culture like capoeira - the unique martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music and the famous Brazilian barbecue churrascaria.

From Recife you’ll visit the stunning natural pools at Maragogi on the famous Coral Coast – 100 miles of continuous living tropical reefs on the coast of Northeast Brazil - where you can bathe in calm tropical waters in an unforgettable setting, and nearby Olinda, one of the best-preserved colonial cities in Brazil. And of course - lots of soccer! We have experiences for players of every level, from friendly pickup futsal matches in the streets of the favelas, to footvolley on the beach with a professional instructor, or taking the field at local pro soccer giants Sport Club do Recife and Clube Nautico (elite experience only).  You’ll also visit the 44,000-capacity, state-of-the-art Arena Pernambucano, constructed for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
