Rumah Cemara

About

Rumah Cemara

Rumah Cemara was formed in January 2003 by 5 recovering drug users who wanted to create a safe space for other people who use drugs to better their lives. At the time, HIV incidence among people who inject drugs was really high, and therefore Rumah Cemara also started to providing psychosocial support for people living with HIV. The organisation recognises the importance of having an inclusive society as stigma and discrimination in the community continues to become a major barrier for people living with HIV and other key populations to access life-saving health services. Therefore, Rumah Cemara started to develop inclusive approach through popular activities such as sports, arts, music and other cultural activities to enable a supportive environment where people can learn without having the fear of stigma and discrimination.
