Colombia

World famous for its breathtaking natural beauty and passionate soccer culture, Colombia also makes the news for its turbulent social and political scene.

Despite the dawn of a new era of peace in the country, there are many challenges facing the youth of Colombia. Over one-third of the population lives below the poverty line and this widespread inequality has resulted in a social climate characterized by conflict and a lack of access to education, employment, and healthcare for the nation’s poorest people.
As in many countries, these challenges disproportionately affect children. Without the benefits of formal education and employment opportunities, the next generation will be unable to break the cycle of poverty.

HThe top sport for young people in Colombia is soccer. You’ll join the world-respected, non-profit organization Tiempo de Juego, working with their projects in Santa Marta and Cazucá, using the power of the beautiful game to bring people together, teach values, and promote formal education.
